Product introduction

Calcium carbide, called Calcium carbide, is because its production process is closely related to electricity. Calcium carbide, with the formula of CaC₂, is a white, granular solid.

 In the production process of calcium carbide, limestone is reduced to lime, and carbon (usually extracted fromke or coal) is used as a reducing agent. This chemical reaction can be expressed by the equation: CaCO₃ 3C→CaC₂ 3CO. 

Calcium carbide is obtained with the help of electricity, which promotes the reaction. The production of calcium carbide needs to be carried out at a high temperature of about 200℃, 

and this process is mainly completed in an electric arc furnace, which has a high energy consumption and impact on the environment. 

Calcium carbide has very active chemical properties and it decomposes violently when it meets water, producing acetylene gas and Calcium hydroxide, and releasing a large amount of heat. Calcium carbide has a range of industrial applications, mainly used in the production of acetylene, but also used in organic synthesis, oxy-acetylene welding and so on.

Packaging requirements: Calcium carbide should generally be packed in sealed containers to prevent moisture absorption and leakage. 

Transportation mode: Calciumide can be transported by various means, such as road, rail, and water. Under normal transportation conditions, it will not cause special damage to the means of transport. However, transportation, it is still necessary to avoid severe collisions and friction to prevent product leakage due to packaging damage. 

Safety precautions: Since calcium carbide reacts violently with water to flammable acetylene gas, it must be strictly moisture-proof during transportation and ensure good ventilation to prevent the accumulation of acetylene from forming explosive mixtures.
